In a competitive business like the local taco shop, here’s how it’s supposed to work:
Keep the place clean
Hire friendly staff
Make better tacos
Offer a fun, connected, even memorable experience
What often happens instead is that you coin some clever trademarks, worry about coupons, cut corners on ingredients and expand as fast as you can. What happens is that you build a moat around your business, get defensive about the status quo and race to the bottom. You’re generic now, and you fight the battles that being generic forces you to fight.
And it’s not just a business that makes tacos. It’s monopolistic internet access, freelance graphic design and everything in between.
When in doubt, make better tacos.
We don’t make Tacos, but the concept is the same. We all need to know what separates us from the rest who are just making generic tacos. So, what separates Pinnacle? What’s going to make a better taco?
Having the very best leadership at every level. This means everything from no “leaderless ramps”, having an ability to conduct world class weekly and monthly client relationship meetings, and just hiring and training better, stronger leaders at every level. We’ll leverage this leadership strength to get more services like Pick-up & Delivery (PDL) and Detailing. If the Dealership has more faith in Pinnacle’s ability to deliver the service, then we’ll get more!
An ability to Recruit, Hire, Train, & Deploy world class, service-oriented folks. This is where we have made a significant investment. In this area, we kick the crap out (technical term!) of in-house dealership operations and competitors. They cannot hold a candle to our capabilities here. We have a combination of Talent resources (our Talent team) and technology that lets Pinnacle attract and sell talent like the dealerships sell cars. Just get your customer or prospect to checkout our career website (Pinnaclehire.com) and it’s not even a fair fight. And, that’s what they can see. Our screening technology and the backend enhancements made to streamline the application process are impressive. This means Pinnacle can get candidates Better and Faster than anyone else in the automotive space. We will also leverage this capability to do more for the Dealership.
Building a brand within the automotive space that signifies quality, service, hospitality, character and trust. Again, that starts with who we hire, but extends to how we look and what we do every day. Building on the service improvements made in 2018 will be a big deal. We have to get Better and Faster in everything we do. Implementing some basic marketing in order to strengthen our brand within the automotive space will also be a goal in 2018.
In 2018, there will be nothing radical in our approach, but I do believe it will be a breakthrough, game-changing year by just getting a little Better and Faster in executing the things that we started in 2017. We’ll focus on building better Tacos!
